Buchtel High School Coach Rayshon Dent posed for a Title Run

The Buchtel Griffins punched their ticket to the State Championship Tournament with a 71-55 win over the Gilmour Academy in a Division II regional final at Canton Memorial Civic Center.

Buchtel wins a regional title, defeating Gilmour 71-55 at Canton Memorial Civic Center.

Rayshon Dent is a Buchtel alumni of the Griffins.

“I feel great about this opportunity,” Dent said. “ Building the program back up was the number one goal for him and his staff when he took over 2 years ago.

“I want to have an aggressive style of defense to be able to transition into offense quickly,” Dent said. “I want to play the full length of the floor. ... Another thing for me is being a coach at Buchtel High School, it is not only about coaching. It is about serving the community as well. Our kids deserve so much more and I can't wait to help them out and push them onto their college endeavors.”
