Glenville Tars St Vincent St Mary

Glenville began it’s mission for a State Championship by gutting out a St. a Vincent-St. Mary team in a 25-0 win to open the 2022 season on Thursday night.

The offense for the Tarblooders amassed 300 total yards, 207 of them on the ground.

Junior D’Shawntae Jones, ran for 135 yards rushing and three touchdowns for Glenville.

“I came out today with a chip on my shoulder,” Jones said. “We just wanted to run the ball and keep running it.”

The offensive line opened up holes against the STVM defense all game long for the running backs to get through, and the running backs took full advantage.

“We just have to block, that’s our bread and butter,” Glenville head coach Ted Ginn, Sr said. “We can do other things but to have a great football team you have to be able to block. That’s what we hang our hat on.”
