St Ed’s Knocks Off National Powerhouse Good Counsel
The St. Edward Eagles defeated Our Lady of Good Counsel (Maryland) on Sunday afternoon in a nationally ranked contest between the two teams.
St. Edward, the No. 12 team in the nation scored 21 unaswered points in the second half to come away with a 28-7 victory.
With the score tied 7-7 at halftime, St. Edward came out with a strong 2nd half performance
St. Edward defense got the scoring started in the first quarter with Good Counsel at its own 38 as the snap went over the head of quarterback Frankie Weaver. As Weaver tried to recover it, he was run over by Thomas. Multiple players tried to pick up the ball, but it kept bouncing down the field and was eventually recovered by St. Edward defensive back Eddie Andrews in the end zone for a touchdown with 7:40 left in the first quarter.
Good Counsel, ranked No. 25 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated national Power 25, answered as Faheem DeLane intercepted Bullock and the Falcons scored two plays later on a 9-yard run by Dilin Jones with 1:55 left.
